Dr. Irene Fialka
Dr. Irene Fialka is CEO of INiTS Universitäres Gründerservice Wien GmbH, an academic business incubator supporting entrepreneurs from all academic institutions in Vienna, Austria. INiTS was founded in 2002 is one of the major players in the dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem in Vienna and has supported many successful startups getting started. Thus, INiTS has been ranked best business incubator in German-speaking countries, 3rd best in Europe and 7th best worldwide by UBI Index in Nov. 2015. Dr. Fialka has worked with startups since 2004 and helped numerous successful startups to develop the right strategies, protect their IP, build up a team and raise funds and, thereby, boost their success. On top of working directly with entrepreneurs she has lectured related topics at a number of universities and universities of applied sciences in Austria since 2006. Before her career in the startup world she worked for > 10 years as a research scientist in the areas of cell biology and oncology, e.g. at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology, I.M.P, a Vienna-based basic research institution by the pharmaceutical company Boehringer-Ingelheim, and at the University of Geneva. INiTS’ track record includes successes such as Dutalys, EMCOOLS, f-star, KiwiSecurity, Marinomed, mySugr, Radiant Minds, Shpock, S-target, Ubimet, Zoomsquare and many more. INiTS’ 175 startups have raised over 180 Mio € of private capital (license and exit deal volumes excluded) and over 100 Mio € of additional public funds.
