Mag.a Petra Biberhofer

Petra Biberhofer works as a teaching and research associate at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Department of Socioeconomics since 2012. She studied political science and communications at the University of Vienna and Uppsala University (Sweden). In her current work at the RCE Vienna she engages in the international community of 130 Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development representing regional networks certified by the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). RCEs promote Education for Sustainable Development through formal, non-formal and informal education and provide a platform to initiate an open dialogue among regional stakeholders through mutual learning and alliances for sustainable development. Her research interests are (higher) education for sustainable development, transformative education, competence-based teaching & learning processes and methods as well as sustainability-driven entrepreneurship. Since 2015 she works in the “Erasmus Plus – Knowledge Alliances” project CASE-Competencies for a sustainable socio-economic development as a lead partner of the consortium. In her PHD she focuses on the concept of knowledge alliances as a framework of interaction in higher education for sustainable development with special focus on innovative forms of teaching and learning as practices of social innovation.
