Dipl.-Ing. Johannes Haas
Johannes Haas was born in 1958 in Graz, Austria. He studied Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the Technical University Graz and graduated in 1981. Throughout his career in academics, research, administration and consulting he focused on the development of sustainable technologies and organizational initiatives, integrated biomass systems, energy consulting and cleaner production being the dominant fields of expertise. From 2000 to 2015 he has been responsible for the development and delivery of the first cooperative and work integrated (“dual”) degree programs in Austrian higher education (“Production Systems Engineering”) at the University of Applied Sciences FH JOANNEUM in Graz. His passion for this unique model of student and industry involvement has motivated his engagement on the Board of Directors of the World Association for Cooperative Education since 2007. He is currently director of a new bachelor program integrating successive work experiences along the entire food chain (“Sustainable Food Management”) at FH JOANNEUM. One of the main challenges of this work is the support entrepreneurship and innovation through new forms of agricultural enterprises and food production networks.
